In general:
Be careful while trying out the Dsp Plugins.
Set a very low Volume at your amplifier.
Never try out via headphones
If you get noise, disable the plugin or quit Symphonie
or reboot.
Resonance higher than 180 can get critical.
Resonance higher than 200 will produce noise for sure.
1. EVENT ED : Special FX / F -------------------------------------
Freq : max 255 (is relativ to System Freq)
Reso : max 185
An independent LP or HP Filter with resonance for every
soundchannel.
Bugs : HP is not implemented yet
Does NOT yet work for () Instruments
Note: If you have set the reso to 0 the filter calculation
is faster, meaning you can have more filters.
Warning: Can produce loud noise !!
2. INSTRUMENT EDITOR : FII (Filter II) ---------------------------
Freq: max 255
Reso: max 195!
You can get a LP or a HP filter. To get a HP filter you
have to press SHIFT while pushing the FII button.
You can create a filter sweep or a static filter.
To do a static one just cancel the requster after entering
the first two parameters (Freq 1, and Reso 1)
3. DSP PLUG IN -----------------------------------------------------
Reso : max 185
A Global HP/LP/BP Filter for realtime performance.
Set a low Volume at your amplifier before trying out any plugin.
Warning: Can produce loud noise !!
Version 3.1
- Event Editor, displaying of negativ numbers fixed
- Multimedia support reactivated for picture class
- Symphonie File Format expanded for enhanced multimedia support
- External Viewer for picture class is Visage (default)
- General realtime response time halved -> GUI is twice as fast.
- Sync System modifed
- System Buffers new from 2 (fast) to 40 (slow)
- note: Buffers outside the range of 4 - 8 are beta
- note: Buffers above 8 can cause short distortion -> a cpu overload is
not detected correctly
- While editing do always use Buffers from 2 to 8, not higher.
- If you use Layer III Oversampling be aware that a cpu
hang can result because of extremly high cpu overload
- Some gfx speedup: Instrument Editor, Position, Event Editor
- Scrolling of the loop range is much faster
- Audio Quality improved: AntiAlias System, LP Filtering
(you get less aliasing noise, especially with LQ 8 Bit Samples)
- Enhanced PT import at Patternlength 128 (Pitchslide, Volumeslide conversion)
- Realtime Event Modification Unit is now Event class aware
- Dsp Settings are updated if changed, again
- The Instrument is updated again if scrolling is active
- ColorOrgan is now updated even if the Spectrum Analyzer is hidden
- NOTE: Users with a gfx card can use two monitors:
first monitor for the colororgan (Amiga Video Out)
second monitor for editor (gfx card output)
- Symphonie Player Pro : Keyboard shortcuts: CrsrLeft, CrsrRight

- Bug fixed: GUI trashing with Popup Menus
- Macro: All Important editing events are now recorded via the

Symphonie hints:
===============
to run Symphonie Jr/Pro Demo you need:
1. AmigaOS 3.0 or higher
2. CPU 68EC020-060 or PowerPC (FPU not needed, no MMU needed)
3. reqtools.library (c) by Nico Francois (fine work!)

(4. Symphonie Jr: 16 MB Fastmem, Symphonie Pro: 32 MB Fastmem recommended)
Changing the GUI font...
-------------------------
The GUI looks rather good if you have the XEN 8 font or something
similar installed. The GUI font is taken from the system default
font settings.
To change the GUI font:
1. Load your "Workbench"
2. Enter the "Prefs" folder
3. Click onto "Fonts"
4. Change the "SYSTEM DEFAULT TEXT" font
(should be the middle one)
5. Click onto "save" or "use" for saving/testing
Memory Protection Failure ?

YOUR CPU IS DEFINATELY TO SLOW ;), GET SOMETHING FASTER
LOWER the System/Freq.
(or select low power audio modes: Left, Right, Oversampling 9Bit)
How to get maximum quality ?
-----------------------------
(0. reset your machine to clean up memory fragmentation)
1. Make sure you select a 30Khz screen mode (e.g. Euro72Hz, Multiscan ...)
or you will not be able to play higher rates than 28Khz
2. Select Audio Mode: Stereo 14 Bit
3. Load your desired module
There is disturbance because the sound is too loud

Decrease MENU:Prefs/s. Preprocessor/Sampleboost by 500 and RELOAD(!) the module
If a certain song does use DSP then the sound may be louder than a song not using
the DSP (general rule)

14 BIT = 16 BIT ?

The Render quality with a soundcard is of course better than over
Amiga's Paula chip. Moreover Soundcards may also have multiple postoversampling
and digital filters reducing noise even more.

Some Audiohardware existing today is supported.
Realtime: 1. Amiga Internal 14 Bit, (Max ca. 50 kHz)
2. AHI System Planned
Non Realtime: (Playing to a File = Audio Rendering)
1. All Soundcards supporting at least one format of the following:
- Planned: aiff (common on MACs)
- Maestro (Toccata, Samplitude support)
- Maud (16 Bit iff) designed by Macrosystem
- Wav (PC) designed by Microsoft
- Raw 8/16 Bit
2. Via "Sox" (Sound Converter) ?
- Other Formats
(Symphonie can once easily use any Soundcard using the Dsp PlugIn Technology)
Surround
--------
Existing Modules may produce "interesting" FX if played on a
Surround Decoder.
Ways to create Surround Sound:
1. Sample based : Invert Sample by using |I| Operation. (Phase Shift 180°)
(Hint: Load a Stereo(!) Sample and invert one Part
or do a "Virtuel Clone".)
2. Channel based : Use Negative Values on Channel Volume (Phase Shift 180°)
Symphonie Pro Only !
Seq: |CV| command
(e.g. "CV:=-100%" does a 180° Phaseshift on all Samples
played on a certain track)
3. Other Phase Positions can be reached via the instrument commands
e.g. FROM, FR&P, FSET, SAMPLEVIB
256 Channels ?
------------
If there is an out of memory error (Symphonie quits at once), decrease
the number of patterns from 64 to 1 and retry.
(256 Channel mode needs 64K per pattern)
Samples ?
-------
All Samples are handled non destructive (No quality loss in any way)
Symphonie supports:
16 Bit AIFF Samples found on MACs
16 Bit Maestro Samples created with Samplitude
16 Bit IFF Samples (MAUD) designed by Macrosystem
16 Bit Wav Samples found on ordinary PCs
of course in Mono and Stereo ...
Symphonie supports multiple XPK packed Samples.
Modules ?
-------
Most Modules are Freeware and FD. Some are PD.
Some are for Private pleasure only!.
NEW: Symphonie supports XPK packed modules
16 Bit Sound in Multimedia, Games and Demos ?
-------------------------------------------
Multimedia: No Problem, You could use rendered Modules
CD Games: You could use rendered 16 Bit Modules as CD-Audio Tracks
Demos: Well, well better take PT Mods until we have PPC processors
